Julian M. Guzman
Born in the late 1980s, Julian spent most of his childhood in his birth country of Colombia, South America. Julian's family, like many other Colombian families, has had a deep connection with coffee dating back several generations and spanning many of the different facets of the coffee supply chain. From, agricultural engineers, to farmers, roasters, baristas, and even café owners. Migrating to the U.S. in 1999 with his family, Julian grew up in the small town of Gastonia N.C. where he attended middle school, high school, and college. Julian's company, Gold Medusa Coffee Co., is the first direct-to-consumer, U.S. based company in his family.
Early Life
Born in the mountains of a small village in Colombia Julian takes great pride in his heritage and this intimate connection with coffee, as his birth place is recognized globally for producing some of the world’s richest and highest quality coffee. Apia, Colombia which is Located at 6k ft above sea level in the Andes Mountains is centrally located in a region known as the Colombian coffee axis.
Military
Honorable service in the U.S. Marine Corps for a total of four and a half years with 1st Battalion 2nd Marines with three overseas deployments including two combat missions in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and 1 humanitarian mission in support of Operation Unified Response following the devastating earth quake in the island nation of Haiti, along with foreign military training package that included several African and European nations
